City of Oakland Council Proceedings AUGUST 19TH, 2024 On AUGUST 19TH, 2024, the governing body met for a regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Oakland, Nebraska, which was held at the Municipal Building, 401 North Oakland Avenue in Oakland, Nebraska. The public had been advised of the meeting by the publication of notice in Oakland Independent as well as three public places: City Auditorium, Post Office, and First NE Bank of Nebraska. Mayor Dan Jacobs started the meeting at 7:00 p.m. with Roll Call. Council President Nathan Anderson, Council Member Jeremiah Johansen, Council Member Scott Swenson, and Council Member Denker-Rost were all in attendance. At 8:09 pm Council member Johansen opened the public hearing for the 2024-2025 One- and Six-Year Plan. Council President Anderson seconded the motion. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen ) - 4, Nay - 0. With no further discussion of the review of the one and six-year plan, Council President Anderson made a motion to close the public hearing. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost, Swenson ) - 4, Nay - 0. 4. At 8:13 pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve appointing new Library Board Member Jane Olson. Motion seconded by Council Member Johansen. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost, Swenson ) - 4, Nay - 0. 5. At 7:50 pm Ethan Joy with JEO Consultants approached the Mayor and Council about bond and insurance and mobilization payment of $72,756.02 for Maguire Iron for the Water Project. At 7:51 pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve the Group C Pay App 1 to Maguire Iron Inc. for the referenced project in the amount of $72,756.02. Motion seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen) - 4, Nay - 0. 6. At 7:54 pm Council President Anderson made a motion that the City of Oakland NE approve to sign the agreement for relocating the fiber line agreement up to $15,000.00 in cost. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Johansen, Anderson, Denker-Rost, Swenson ) - 4, Nay - 0. 7. At 8:14 PM Council Member Swenson made a motion to approve the advertising for a Full-Time Street Department employee new hire. Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker- Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen) - 4, Nay – 0 8. At 8:18 pm Council President Anderson made a motion to approve Resolution 2024-9 "Municipal Annual Certification of Program Compliance". Motion was seconded by Council Member Denker-Rost. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen) - 4, Nay – 0 9. At 8:12 pm Council Member Johansen made a motion to approve Resolution 2024-10 " 2024 One- and Six-Year Plan". Motion was seconded by Council President Anderson. All present Voting: Aye (Swenson, Denker-Rost, Anderson, Johansen) - 4, Nay - 0 10.
