The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on September 18, 2024 in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made in advance thereof by posting in three places, one of the designated methods of giving notice. Minutes of the August 21, 2024 meeting were approved as distributed. The meeting was called to order by President Judy Schernikau at 8:30 am. A quorum was established with the presence of Randy Johnson, Rosa Schmidt, Kathy Rennerfeldt and Daniel Tanksley, Jr. Also present was Administrator David Deemer. Mr. Deemer was asked to present and lead discussion of the agenda items for the day. The Oakland Heights 50-year celebration in August was well attended and applauded by community members. This board thanks all participants who planned this event with a special thanks for the pictures and paper clippings of our history. Alliant Group has provided information regularly pertaining to the Employee Retention Tax Credits. The federal agency which processes the application for Oakland Heights will issue information as soon as tax credits are available. DHHS performed a spontaneous survey to answer questions brought to DHHS through a complaint. Survey result was unsubstantiated with no deficiencies assigned to Oakland Heights. Board of Directors heard no AR updates no Risk/Liability issues this month. New Maintenance worker Garrett Shockley is welcomes by the Board. A motion was offered by Rosa Schmidt with a second from Randy Johnson to exit regular session and enter executive session. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried. Executive session began at 9:03am to discuss personnel. A motion was offered by Randy Johnson with a second from Kathy Rennerfeldt to leave executive session and return to regular session at 9:11am. QAPI & Covid information was shared with the Board of Directors. Oakland Heights is again a 5-star facility overall. Census if 40 with no available beds in the nursing home. Assisted Living is 18. A part-time RN/LPN is needed for night shift and a full-time CNA/CMA is needed for evening shift. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials distributed and warrants were submitted for payment. A motion was offered to pay warrants by Randy Johnson with a second from Kathy Rennerfeldt. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried.
