The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on December 11, 2024 in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made in advance thereof by posting in three places, one of the designated methods of giving notice. Minutes of the November 20, 2024 meeting were approved as distributed. The meeting was called to order by President Judy Schernikau at 8:30 am. A quorum was established with the presence of Randy Johnson, Kathy Rennerfeldt and Daniel Tanksley, Jr. Rosa Schmidt was absent and excused. Also present was Administrator David Deemer and Interim Director of Nursing, Amy Brown. Mr. Deemer introduced Mrs. Brown to the Board and the Board members introduced themselves to her. After this was concluded, Mrs. Brown exited the meeting and Mr. Deemer continued the meeting with discussion of agenda items for the day. Health Insurance premiums will increase by approximately six percent for 2025. Health carrier will switch to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Oakland Heights Board and Administration received thank you notes from employees who were granted a bonus on 12/3/2024. Oakland Heights transit discussion centers on value of vehicles and our financial ability to purchase one or two for our transit needs. Two vehicle quotes are required for us to comply with regulations set for in the application or 5311 subrecipients. Oakland Heights has a PRN (as needed) work policy. An update to the policy will be completed to match our workload. The pressures placed on the Heights during the PANDEMIC have eased and our policy must reflect our current needs-both people and finances. Oakland Heights employee Christmas Party will be held at Oakland Golf Club on February 8, 2025 at 6:00pm. Residents up to date are 61% and staff vaccination rates are at 6.1%. Assisted Living, as of 12/7/24, had five positive residents and no positive employees. Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects include UTI’s, decreasing falls and safety transfers for the month of November/December. Oakland Heights has a census of 36 with assisted living currently at 21. We are hiring for a full-time Director of Nursing and a part-time RN/LPN for night shift. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials were distributed and warrants submitted for payment. A motion was offered by Kathy Rennerfeldt with a second from Dan Tanksley, Jr. to pay warrants as submitted. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried.
