The regular monthly Board of Education meeting was held Monday, February 9, 2026 in the Board Meeting Room in the Elementary Building. Administrators present were Superintendent Bland, Secondary Principal Burton and Elementary Principal Rennerfeldt. President Dockhorn called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM and noted the Nebraska Open Meetings Law. Notice of this meeting was properly posted and/or published by advance Public Notice in accordance with Board Policy #2008 with notice and advance agenda given to the President of the Board and all members prior to the meeting date. EXCUSED ABSENCES Aaron Anderson moved that Diane Pelan-Johnson is absent, excused. Henry Unwin seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-6; Against Motion-0. Motion carried. ROLL CALL Roll Call was called with the following members present: Aaron Anderson, Marilee Groth, Brett Johnson, Dane Johnson, Henry Unwin and Jon Dockhorn. REGULAR AGENDA There were 17 visitors in attendance. No one addressed the Board. CONSENT AGENDA Dane Johnson moved that the consent agenda be approved as presented. Unwin seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-6; Against Motion-0. Motion carried. Items included in the consent agenda were the approval of the February 9, 2026 meeting agenda; approval of claims from the General Fund in the amount of $115,338.85, the Lunch Fund in the amount of $14,696.93 and the Building Fund in the amount of $34,563.25 and the approval of minutes from January 12, 2026 regular school board meeting. TREASURER’S REPORT Mrs. Bland reviewed the information on the treasurer’s report. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS Principal Rennerfeldt reported that due to staffing changes, two paraprofessionals have been hired. Please welcome Kambree Mockenhaupt and Ali Beckstrom. Mrs. Rennerfeldt also reviewed the projected class sizes for 2026-2027 school year. Current PK-6th grade enrollment is 233 students, which is down 1 from last month and down 1 student from last year. Secondary Principal Burton reported that the current enrollment for the 7th through 12th grades is 173 students, which is down 1 from last month and down 11 students from last year. The second window of NSCAS testing is completed for grades 7 – 8 and Renaissance testing has been completed for grades 7 – 12. Mrs. Burton reviewed the scores. A list of upcoming events and activities was provided. Superintendent Bland reported that the Buildings & Grounds committee had met and reviewed the list of summer projects. Mrs. Bland gave an update on new legislation being proposed this session. Mrs. Bland also reminded the board that the election deadline for incumbents is February 17th. Superintendent Bland ended her report by reporting her remaining vacation and sick leave. POLICY UPDATES Superintendent Bland explained the proposed policy updates. Anderson moved to approve the following policies as presented: 5006 – Foreign Exchange Students, 5007 – Enrollment of Expelled Students, 5009 – Adult Education, 5010 – Immunizations, 5011 – Physical Examination and Visual Evaluations of Students and 5012 – Testing and Assessment Program. Brett Johnson seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-6; Against Motion-0. Motion carried. NASB MEMBERSHIP Brett Johnson moved to continue membership in the Nebraska Association of School Boards for the 2026-2027 school year. Groth seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-6; Against Motion-0. Motion carried. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS The Buildings and Grounds Committee met. A list of summer projects was reviewed in Superintendent Bland’s report.
