NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on August 12, 2026, in the Craig Fire Hall, 333 S. Main St., the Village of Craig will hold a public hearing concerning an application to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). This grant is available to local governments for community/ economic development activities. The Village of Craig, NE, is requesting $630,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Craig Water Distribution Improvement Project. The project will be funded through a combination of CDBG funds and a $66,700 Village match. Specifically, the Village is requesting $600,000 for Water/Sewer Improvements to install approximately 2,600 linear feet (seven blocks) of new 6-inch water main along Nebraska Street between Carlson Avenue and Maple Avenue; four new fire hydrants; 30 new water meters; 30 new 1-inch corporation stops and saddles; 30 new 1-inch curb stops and boxes; approximately 1,500 linear feet of new 1-inch PE service lines; associated appurtenances; removals and abandonments; site restoration; and professional services. The Village is also requesting $25,000 for General Administration and $5,000 for Construction Management. The need for the proposed project was identified in the 2020 Water System Preliminary Engineering Report for Craig, Nebraska. 60% of CDBG funds will benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. No displacement of people or businesses will occur as a result of the project. All funds will be utilized for the National Objective of Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI). There will be zero persons displaced as a result of CDBG activities. The grant application will be available for public inspection at the Craig Fire Hall. All interested parties are invited to attend this public hearing at which time you will have an opportunity to be heard regarding the grant application.
