Minutes of Village Board Meeting Village of Craig, NE. Regular Meeting May 11, 2026 A regular monthly meeting of the Chairperson and Board of Trustees of the Village of Craig, Nebraska was convened in open and public session at 7:00 P.M., on May 11, 2026, at the Craig Fire Hall. The meeting was called to order by Board Chair, Susan Skinner. Roll call found the following Board of Trustee members present, i.e., Jean Meyer, Roxy Sachs, Susan Skinner, Mike Uhing and Steve Nelson. Also present were Barbara J. Hill, Village Clerk and Matt Munderloh, Attorney for the Village. Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by the posting of a notice, by one of the designated methods of giving notice, as shown by the certification of posting attached to these minutes. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Board Chair and Village Board. All present members signed the notice of meeting form and acceptance of the agenda. Skinner established a quorum. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Sachs and seconded by Meyer. All present voted AYE. Items included in consent agenda: May 11th, 2026 agenda, April, 2026 minutes and April, 2026 claims. PARTIES PRESENT TO ADDRESS THE TRUSTEES: None. COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS: Water and Maintenance: Meyer reported that there were five gate valves installed, however, more need to be installed. Cost of replacing more will be reported at the next meeting. Two or three more lengths of 30’ culvert needed in order to repair all the way to the ditch. Nelson made a Motion to get three 30’ culverts. Seconded by Uhing. All present voted Aye. There is still a leak somewhere but location is yet unknown Meyer has class to update his continuing education in Macy on Wednesday the 13th . There was a visit from the State about the lagoons. We need to get recertified. Water needs to be added. COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS: Clerk/Treasurer: The renewal of the Commercial insurance package and the Workman’s Comp with Brenneis Insurance was brought up for 2026-2027. Premium is $20,288.00. After discussion, Nelson made a motion to renew, seconded by Sachs. All present voted AYE. Delinquent water bills were discussed. Events at the park and gym were mentioned for the month of May. Ball games being May and June. COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS; Ordinance Officer: Hill reported that letters are being sent to residents to clean up unsightly property; that buildings need to be repaired or removed from the property. Trying to work with the owners. BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS; Nelson talked about the Merry-go-round that is in bad need of replacement. Nelson will check on a price to replace and install. Nelson reported on the building on main street (old restaurant) that could be deeded to the Village. Once title was changed, we could check on grant funds to see about tearing down the building. After discussion, Meyer made a motion to pay the Attorney fees to purchase the building. Seconded by Sachs. All present voted AYE. Report on using the County Shed to place all of the Village’s equipment plus the tractor in which does not seem to be an option. Nelson stated we then need to put up a building to house this equipment. This will be further discussed. Replacing sidewalk in front of where the buildings were removed (4’) was further discussed. Greg Brummond said he would do it and only charge for the concrete and a little payment for his help. Sachs made a motion to get the concrete and get it done. Nelson seconded. All present voted AYE. NEW BUSINESS: Appeal hearing was held pertaining to previous nuisance determinations at 513 S. Nebraska Street; Lot 7, Block 8; 195 Main Street; and Lots 6 and 7, Block 16, all in the Village of Craig. ITEMS APPROVED: As shown within these minutes. CLAIMS: Barbara J. Environmental, $15.00; NPPD, $3,044.80; NNTC, $192.77; Northeast Nebraska, $680.00; One Office Solutions, $311.52; One Call Concepts, $40.53; Platte Valley Equipment, $1,000.00; Print Image Solutions, $65.13; Scott’s Hardware, $47.42; Verizon, $116.70; Joyride Public Transit, $750.00; Payroll, $4,944.65, Total $44,308.23 APPROVAL OF OPERATIONS: May Treasurer’s Report (April Expenses) Motion made by Nelson, seconded by Sachs.
