Corn, Community and Cause: Tekamah Sweet Corn Festival Returns

Posted

Tekamah’s newest summer tradition is back for its third year as the Tekamah Chamber of Commerce hosted the Sweet Corn Festival August 7th—a full evening of food, fun, and philanthropy.

This year’s festival featured 20 local vendors, each bringing their own flavor to the event. Guests enjoyed delicious food from community organizations, tested appetites in the crowd-favorite corn eating contest, and danced the night away to live music by the popular Omaha-based cover band Southland. Families had a chance to enjoy a beer garden for the adults, the dunk tank, a bounce house, and colorful face painting for the kids.

The festival isn’t just about good times—it’s about giving back. Proceeds will support the Week of Giving, August 7–14, benefiting a variety of local organizations, including:

  • Pickleball Committee
  • T-H Ball Association
  • Jumpstart the Heart Initiative
  • Tri County Saddle Club
  • Memorial Community Hospital Foundation
  • Elkhorn Logan Valley Health Department
  • And several others

Spencer Breckenridge, President of the Tekamah Chamber of Commerce was very pleased with the support shared through the event.

“It was a great evening seeing the community come together and celebrate our agricultural roots,” Breckenridge said. “With our biggest crowd yet, vendors sold out and it was a huge success. Make sure to join us next year for another great event!”

The Sweet Corn Festival is proof that when a community comes together, everyone benefits, whether it’s through laughter in the bounce house, music under the summer sky, or a donation that helps a local organization thrive.
