A special meeting was held on June 2, 2025, at the request of President Judy Schernikau, in closed session, to discuss a board member's resignation and other sensitive personnel matters. Notice of the closed session meeting was posted in advance in three places, one of the methods of giving notice. The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on June 19, 2025, in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made in advance thereof by posting in three places, one of the designated methods of giving notice. Minutes of the May 21, 2025 meeting were approved as distributed. The meeting was called to order by President Judy Schernikau at 8:30 AM. A quorum was established with the presence of Randy Johnson, Kathy Rennerfeldt, and Dan Tanksley, Jr. The resignation of board member Rosa Schmidt was accepted by the board during the special meeting held on June 2, 2025. Also present was Administrator Joshua Yeutter. New business began with the review of two individuals to complete Rosa Schmidt’s term. A motion was offered and carried to recommend an individual to the City Council to complete the term. Mr. Yeutter continued the agenda by continuing with a discussion on the renewal of the Medical Director’s contract. A motion was made and carried to offer the renewal to the existing Medical Director. The Facility’s Annual Survey has recently been completed, and Mr. Yeutter gave a report on the outcome and the procedure to correct any deficiencies that were identified. Potential wage increases for hourly employees were reviewed by the board. A motion was made and carried to increase the wages by 3.5% for hourly employees, set to take effect on August 1, 2025. A discussion on the Longevity Pay policy was held and tabled for further discussion at a later date. Administration and the Board of Directors intend to utilize resources from the employee retention funds towards improvement projects that include but are not limited to: kitchen updates in the Skilled and Assisted Living, Floor Coverings, Painting, Computer programs that include education opportunities for all employees, and outdoor work that has already been itemized in other writings. A discussion was held on those potential projects. The new Budget is on track for discussion in the July Board Meeting. There were no COVID-positive residents or staff during April/May. Census is at 36 at Oakland Heights and 22 currently in the Assisted Living. We are hiring full-time or part-time RN/LPN for days and evenings, and full-time or part-time CNAs for days and evenings. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials were distributed, and warrants submitted for payment. A motion was offered by Dan Tanksley Jr., with a second from Randy Johnson, to pay the warrants as submitted. On roll call, all ayes, no nays, motion carried.
